Building

The current headquarters of the General Luliano Studio is located at number 4 Sant Roc Street, in Palma. It occupies the corner plot between Estudi General and Sant Roc streets. The General Luliano Studio has been located here since at least 1561.

A bombing during the Spanish Civil War in 1936 left the building in ruins.

In 1950, a board of trustees was established to reconstruct the General Luliano Studio building. The Board of Trustees drafted a preliminary Statute project that would reflect the cultural work of the islands and promote the restoration of university education in Majorca.

Architect Gabriel Alomar, who was part of the Board of Trustees, drafted the building project. Construction began on July 3, 1950. In 1953, the works were halted due to lack of resources. In 1963, thanks to the assistance of the Joan March Foundation, the works resumed, leaving the building nearly completed. Only the assembly hall remained, which began in 1966 but was not completed until 1972 to preserve the discovered Roman ruins.

The current building is of regionalist character and style, set back from the street and the previous construction, thus forming a small square; with an austere facade, a half-point entrance arch, windows with mullions, and a wooden eave; it has a ground floor, main floor, and adapted porch, plus four intermediate floors, organized around a cloister with a surrounding porch with Ionic columns and semi-circular arches, with a flooring decorated with a central mosaic featuring the heraldic shield of Llull. The lateral facade is simple, aligned with the street; it also features a portal with a pointed arch that provides access to the auditorium. Heraldic elements and others from the old construction were incorporated into the building.
