Climate Change and Its Impacts on the Balearic Sea

In the Balearic Sea, the impacts are particularly visible: rising water temperatures, which favor biodiversity loss and the expansion of invasive species; acidification and sea-level rise, affecting ecosystems such as Posidonia meadows and coastlines; beach erosion, marine mortality, and overloading of coastal systems, putting fisheries, tourism, and the quality of marine habitats at risk.
